Who we are
The Nigeria Energy Investment Forum (NEIF) is convened under the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and hosted by the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN). The NEIF Secretariat is the data controller for the information collected through this website. You can reach the Secretariat at info@neif.com.ng.
This notice is written to meet the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation.
What we collect, and why
Delegate registration. Your name, email address, telephone number, organisation, role, country and whether you will attend in person or virtually. We use this to confirm your seat, issue your reference and seat confirmation card, accredit you at the venue, and send you notices about the event you registered for. Legal basis: performance of the arrangement you enter when you register, and the Secretariat's public interest task of organising the Forum.
Sponsorship inquiries. Your organisation, name, role, email, telephone, country, website and your message. We use this to respond to your inquiry and to prepare a sponsorship package. Legal basis: steps taken at your request before an agreement.
Contact messages. Your name, email, organisation, the subject and your message, so that we can reply. Legal basis: your request.
Technical records. Our hosting provider records the IP address, browser and time of each request in ordinary server logs, and we keep short lived records of failed sign in attempts and form submissions per connection to protect the site against abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure.
We do not use advertising cookies or analytics trackers. The only cookie set is a session cookie needed for forms to work; it expires when you close your browser.
Who sees your information
Registration and inquiry records are seen by the NEIF Secretariat and the accreditation team at the venue. Sponsorship inquiries are shared with the Sponsorship Desk. Delegate lists may be shared with the venue's security team for access control. Confirmation and update emails are sent through our hosting provider's mail service. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Registration records are kept for the Forum and for twelve (12) months after it, to handle follow up, communiqué distribution and reporting, then deleted or anonymised. Sponsorship and contact records are kept for as long as the conversation is open and for twelve (12) months after it closes. Security logs are kept for no more than ninety (90) days.
Your rights
Under the NDPA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, or to give it to you in a portable form. You may also withdraw consent where consent is the basis we rely on. Write to info@neif.com.ng with your registration reference if you have one; we respond within thirty (30) days. If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. Personal records are stored on servers within our hosting provider's infrastructure with access limited to authorised Secretariat staff behind a password protected console with sign in lockout. Seat confirmation cards are sent only to the email address given at registration and are not published on the website.
Changes
We will post any change to this notice on this page with a new date. Material changes affecting registered delegates will also be emailed.
